Built on My Uncle's Word.
Carried Forward on Mine.
Every business has a founding story. Ours happens to be a family one.
How It Started
35 Years Built on One Idea — Be Honest
Long before Tsunami Aircraft Sales existed, John's uncle was flying commercially for Coastal Air. He loved the industry enough to leave the cockpit and start something of his own, an aircraft sales and acquisition business built on a simple idea: be honest, be straightforward, and fight for the best deal for the person in front of you. Over 35 years and more than 350 transactions, that reputation became the business itself. Customers didn't just come back, they sent their friends.
A Family of Pilots
Aviation Runs Deeper Than the Business
Aviation runs further back in this family than the business does. John's grandfather served as an Aerial observe/gunner in World War I, and the love of flying has carried through every generation since. It's part of why the airplanes here have always felt less like inventory and more like family.
How I Came Into It
Not a Plan. The Right Kind of Surprise.
John didn't plan on running an aircraft business. He was working in the car industry at the time. He had a lifelong love of airplanes, built over years of going to airshows with his uncle. When the business came to him, it wasn't part of any plan, but it felt like the right kind of surprise. He calls it fate. Either way, he took the opportunity and hasn't looked back.
What Hasn't Changed
One Person. Straight Answers. Honesty First.
The promise John's uncle made to every customer is the same one John makes today: you deal with one person, start to finish. Not a sales team, not a rotating point of contact, one person who will work hard for you and give you a straight answer. Honesty first, every time.
Where We're Headed
Growing Into More. Without Changing What Works.
The business is growing in the directions John's uncle laid the groundwork for. More aircraft leasing, new OEM relationships, and a stronger presence across the Northeast. Tsunami attended Oshkosh AirVenture for the first time this year, and the team continues building a digital presence, including this website and an active social media voice, so more of the right buyers and lessees can find their way here.
